Missing ads
66 ads in this archive are documented but have no image. Each one is known to exist, from a collector inventory, a dealer listing, a magazine index or the campaign’s own records, but nobody has produced a scan.
They are not the famous pages. Those are almost all here. What is missing is the paper around them: contest and sweepstakes winners, third-page sidebars, promotional posters, Spanish-language work and parodies. None of it was ever sold, so no dealer stocked it, and none of it was treated as collectible, so nobody scanned it.
If you have one of these, it is probably the only copy anyone has looked at in twenty years.
Sending a scan
Flatbed scan at 600 dpi or better, saved as TIFF or PNG. Include the whole page, margins and all, and scan the back as well, because the reverse often carries the issue date or a subscriber address label and that is the only way some of these can be dated. Leave automatic colour and contrast correction switched off.
A phone photograph is still worth sending. A poor image of something nobody has seen beats no image at all, and it can be replaced later.
