“Refrigerator Love”
Category:California got milk? advertising
Collections:Ads without mustaches
Type:Television commercial
Notes
A spoof of the food scene in the film Tom Jones: a partly dressed couple feed each other leftover desserts; he races to the kitchen and finds no milk.
Made by: California Milk Processor Board; agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
Got Milk? The Book (1999) calls it “a little-known spot”; Manning argued with the director over nudity and frosting, focus groups were lukewarm, and “Most women found it offensive. It ran for a few weeks in April 1996 and was pulled.” (pp. 107, 110).
No public copy of the commercial has been found (YouTube, Vimeo, the Internet Archive and the Advertising Educational Foundation case page were searched in October 2026).
