Notes
Got Milk? The Book (1999) tells how the partnership began: on a store check Manning saw that bananas go on cereal and carry stickers, and that the line fits on a sticker; within two weeks there was a partnership, and in fall 1997 got milk? stickers appeared on 100 million clusters of Dole bananas across America, which drew national press as a precedent for advertising on fresh fruit (pp. 129–130). The promotion therefore began two years before this 1999 piece.
