Notes
The 1997 California Milk Processor Board got milk? ad of a Girl Scout carrying cookie boxes. Recreated in 2012–13 with new Girl Scouts (see extra-1100). Image from the CMPB's 2012 press release reproducing the original.
Issue: California, 1997 (outdoor/print); reproduced in PR Newswire release, November 5, 2012
The board’s own ten-year timeline shows this ad on its 1997 page, which supports the date.
Got Milk? The Book (1999): the board asked the Girl Scouts of the USA for permission to use Girl Scouts in uniform, which was granted because the board is not-for-profit; the billboard with “three heart-melting Girl Scouts” ran across the United States, a couple of years after an earlier guilt board of a small girl in pink pajamas with a bowl of dry cereal (p. 113). The book gives no year.
