Digitized September 2011 Seventeen issue introduces the nine winners, states they posed together for their Milk Mustache ad, and directs readers to turn the page to see it. Winners: Michelle Lassen, Bailey Amaden, Allison Freeman, Elaine Mann, Victoria Leggett, Lauren Zimmermann, Mina Burnside, Kimberly Rosen, and Alyssa Collopy. The exact official campaign visual is independently reproduced in the USDA 2011 Report to Congress, Appendix G, under “Milk Mustache Posters – Teens” as item 6, “The ‘Nine’ Contest Winners.”

The same issue’s “check it out!” promotions page has a block headed “The Latest Milk Mustache Celebrities!”: “Congratulations to The 9, the latest Milk Mustache celebrities! Chosen by you, the teens embody the power of milk’s nine essential nutrients and are the first real teens featured in the campaign.” (the magazine’s wording), with a photograph from the shoot and the got milk? logo. It is added below.

Perishable News and Patch say the Power of 9 contest drew more than 400 entries; 27 finalists went to a public vote. The winners’ home towns as reported: Michelle Lassen (Philadelphia area, Pennsylvania), Bailey Amaden (Little Rock, Arkansas), Allison Freeman (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), Elaine Mann (Baltimore, Maryland), Victoria Leggett (Tampa, Florida), Lauren Zimmermann (New Orleans, Louisiana), Mina Burnside (Nashville, Tennessee), Kimberly Rosen (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Alyssa Collopy (Detroit, Michigan).
